An excellent
read for anyone that was around in the 70's or has a general interest in
the Northern Soul/Mod scene at the time. It's easy to read and captures
the thoughts and feelings of the day well - and I should know because I
was there. Definitely recommended.

Couldn't put
the book down until it was finished and then read it again. Hope they make
the movie. I would recommend this novel to anyone into Scooters and
Northern Soul.

Crackin' up
---- Crackin' read. Even if you're not a fan of northern soul music this
book offers you an insight into the world of one of the greatest youth
cultures in British history. The chapters are short and very easily read
making you snatch time to read the next one, in fact I actually read the
whole book in one sitting - the read was so compelling. I'm not sure
whether you are supposed to like the lead character or not as you go
through the full gamut of emotions whilst reading it. Summing up, this
book grips you at the start and it then refuses to let
you go until the last word is read.

The book is
well written and the sort that once started is quite difficult to put
down. There are loads of references to the (Northern Soul) scene and music
played, gear taken. In a similar vein to Quadrophenia but set later on
(when mods were just scooter boys and loved Northern). It gets quite
raunchy in parts - you will love it, as I did.

Read it -
you'll love it.
If you were there you will be reminded of your youth; if you weren't
you'll wish you had been. Great characters, great humour. A must read for
those who would like to know about the early Northern Soul scene.

Wasn't sure
what to expect, but it became a book I could not put down. Really takes
you back! The ending came too soon but I will be reading it again.
Recommended to any soul fans.

First Class
Story. Absolutely brilliant, brought all the soulful memories flooding
back. If you like scooters, skinheads and Northern Soul then buy this . .
it sums up the whole thing.

Absolutely
magnificent. One of the best pulp novels that I've read. Beats the Richard
Allen books and more recent books such as Casual hands down, and they were
pretty good in their own right.
